National STEM Day at SCSA

November 8th is National STEM Day! Here at Southwest Charlotte STEM Academy, we are passionate about teaching our students science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. Our goal is to prepare them to become the next generation of problem solvers, inventors, and innovators.

National STEM Day

November 8th is National STEM Day, a day that is celebrated by showing support for the education of students who are passionate about STEM subjects or who wish to pursue a career in STEM. Since bringing STEM into curriculums has increased, it’s also important to recognize the impact it has made on children’s learning process. Learning is now more fun and engaging, and that is something to cheer about.

It is also important to highlight the fact that many jobs nowadays depend on workers who are skilled at problem solving, creative thinking, collaboration, and innovation. These are fundamental skills that many schools have started to teach their students, thus preparing them for when they will need to put those skills to good use, whether in their careers or simply in their daily lives.

STEM Education at SCSA

Here at SCSA, STEM education manifests itself in many ways. We highly encourage experimentation when it comes to activities because it gets our students thinking creatively as they work on their projects and assignments. It teaches them about trial and error, how to use their creativity, and that making mistakes is part of the learning process

It also teaches students to work together to reach a common goal. Whether it is getting together for a class presentation, a science experiment, or any assignment, collaboration lets our students thrive in their academic paths.

Additionally, it helps students use their critical thinking skills when it comes to problem solving. It allows for a student to look at a problem or concept, examine it, and then create a way to apply a solution to it.

At SCSA, STEM education has impacted our students in many wonderful ways and has paved the way that leads to a bright future. Whether they pursue jobs in STEM or not, we have helped them gain important life skills that they will come to use every day, either in their careers or personal lives.
