About
The Southwest Charlotte STEM Academy (SCSA) Board of Directors believes that a safe and enriched learning environment helps to promote academic excellence. The way a school’s atmosphere is cultivated can directly impact students’ safety, attitude, and school performance. School uniforms help create unity amongst students and help the school leaders identify individuals on campus who could pose a threat and/or compromise safety. SCSA has adopted and will enforce the uniform policy below. All students are required to wear uniforms on school days, with any exceptions announced in the school’s communications or by specific permission from the school’s administration. One approved vendor has been selected for consistency of appearance, color, and quality. This also allows for less subjectivity in enforcement. Clothing should be marked for easy identification.

Bottoms

Dresses

Footwear
Shoes must cover the entire foot, including toes, bridge, sole, and heel No sandals, slides, crocs, or footwear with holes

Dress Code
Guidelines:
- Pants and shorts must be secured at the waistline, not sagging and/or revealing anything underneath.
- Clothing must be free of rips and holes. This includes jeans/pants on designated Spirit Days.
- All clothing must fully cover the underclothes, the shoulders, the areas around the waist, the back below four fingers from the base of the neck, and the chest below four fingers from the collar bone: no visible cleavage.
- If clothing material (sheer, mesh, lace, etc.) reveals what is underneath, clothing must be worn underneath that meets the coverage guidelines above.
- Leggings and clothing similar to leggings may be worn only under shorts, skorts, skirts, and dresses that meet length requirements. Leggings must be solid white or black.
- All clothing must be free of words, sayings, slogans, or graphics (symbols, images, etc.) except for official SCSA spirit wear.
- Elementary students may not carry purses.
- Bookbag-style backpacks only. No rolling bags. Backpacks can be any color as long as they do not have any inappropriate wording or offensive pictures/tone.
